Stainless steel worktops are the most used in the kitchen, by professionals but also by individuals. Stainless steel has incredible antibacterial properties and is easy to maintain because the tasks are not anchored.

Avoid detergents and brushes so as not to leave visible traces. Zinc has the advantage of being a self-protecting material which does not rust and does not need to be varnished. On the other hand, it is also messy because it is easy to clean and can oxidize, if it is not properly maintained. Clean your worktop frequently with soap and water. To make it shine, use products for silverware.

Apart from stainless steel and zinc, you can have your worktop built in pewter, galvanized steel, aluminum or even copper. These materials are back in fashion for their retro side and are all easy to maintain.
Aluminum and tin, unlike zinc, require almost no maintenance. They are cleaned with a sponge and a little soapy water.
Zinc-plated steel cannot be artificially oxidized, whereas it is this peculiarity that makes zinc have different colors. Copper may darken in places if you are not careful, as it can retain fingerprints.
